Terroir
The city of Sakawa is located south of the central part of Shikoku Island, bordered by the bay of Tosa to the south and the mountain ranges to the north.
The crystalline, cobalt-blue waters of the Niyodo River are recognized as the purest in Japan. The river rises on Mount Ishizuchi (Stone Hammer, 1982 m), one of Japan's seven sacred peaks and the highest in the western part of the archipelago. Cascading from its source at an altitude of 1,500 m, it flows through the Nakatsu Gorge, crossing the entire central part of Kōchi before flowing into the Pacific Ocean.
